This started as a #doodle to see if I could import a photo into my rendering program. The background is the #horsehead #nebula taken by @europeanspaceagency / @nasahubble – the photo is covered by the Creative Commons. Ostensibly the view is an #alien world closer to the nebula. I actually built the environment first, with weirdly #xenomorphic flora, I’m sure there’s a better word for it. After all of this was done I added the #astronaut / #explorer to add a focal point. Well, #alienday is almost over but it took me a while to #create this #artwork – originally I was going to #illustrate a #woman looking out a window, but since it’s #lv426 day I figured why not go #scifi – There is not a #xenomorph in the #digital #painting which is in line with the #dark #atmosphere of the first #alien #movie and classic #horrormovies – it’s also not connected to any scene from the franchise for legal reasons, but there is a whole #terrifying universe out there, hope you enjoy. #digitalartist #new

Long before a certain cable-giant show dominated the #dragon scene, and eight years of our lives, the #trope of #wyrms and #women had been floating around the high #fantasy setting. This is a continuation of that trope. I don’t have the budget of the #hollywood big boys, so my dragon is a little more 1st generation – the polygons, materials, etc., need to be redone, blah, blah. It’s a money issue. I got around it by tightly focusing the camera on the #princess – Anywho, the point of the #artwork is to capture the moment when #fear (of a 40 ton #beast that just landed near oneself) turns to #wonder and #amazement – so i give you today’s #digital #doodle fresh from my 4 core, state of the #art rig (it blew other workstations away in 2014). #happy Saturday!

Tihana of Sabatia, General of the Western Marches, watches her brother’s last stronghold burn at the Battle of Auricoma in 7085 H.C. The civil war had boiled-over three years prior when differing #political factions began looking at the other as subhuman. Words and street art over time had escalated to violence, genocide, and eventual civil war. The war was long, brutal, but she was glad that the Empire could be saved, even at great personal cost. This started by watching ‘Space Age Love Song’ by Flock of Seagulls, with footage of #jenniferconnelly in the movie Career Opportunities on the ‘Tube. The scene is the one where she’s in the car. I decided to try and recreate it. Technically, it’s a fail, because #realism (she doesn’t fully look like JC) but I liked the Sphinx-like #smile she ended up with. The inspiration:

Today’s #creation looks like another day of fast times at #gothic high, with slack-jawed dudes in awe of the #hotgirl walking by, but the #scene needs a deeper look. If you noticed that this #mistress of the #dark is heading towards the rising #sun – then you’ll do your part well in efforts to combat #vampire #suicide – why this #artwork ? It’s really a result of a shift in music while working on it. It was supposed to be the former, lol. #art #digitalpainting #digitalartwork

The beach. I can’t go to the #beach right now due to the #pandemic but I can dream! So I thought I’d recreate the experience… Of course I embellished it to avoid it being a #digitalpainting of the #sky #gulls & #sunglasses 😂 Probably the cleverest thing in this was the work that went into the placing of the ‘camera’, which required a second model that I could delete the head to get the point of view nearly accurate. Then there’s the hours of #rendering and the follow-on paint dot net touch-ups. #doodle #art #digitalartwork

Quarantine – more light study than anything else. I wanted to see if I could pull of the use of filtered #light through curtains a-la #vermeer and use contemporary subject matter, though with dress modes through history, the future may think this is scandalous when they discover it in the #digital muck; just as flashing an ankle was once racy. The #painting also attempts to capture the #mood of the nation enduring a #pandemic or at least my mood, but I’m not #artwork material so you get an #ingenue – Anywho, some hashtags #quarantine #digitalart #digitialartist #new #oncemoreuntothebreach
