The Secret Lives of Monsters

#ogres, #goblins, #orcs, oh my. They’re all thought to solely exist for the purpose of the hero to come through and butcher them all in the name of some higher good, but they’re more than fodder and dungeon masters should design these other than combat activities into their role-playing games. Whatevs, I figured it would be a better statement than ‘Ogre communing with Nature’.

Nature Finds a Way

She’ll survive us all. She’s the strongest woman we know, she’s nature. Climate change? She’s survived it. High CO2? Easy. Humans, not so much. But she just may have mercy on us when we’ve wiped ourselves off the face of the planet. Here? A post-human photoshoot. We took her trees, her resources, her valuables, but … Read more

Nature – Victim

So I throw all these words out to explain my #art but really, it comes down to mood as the #artwork progresses. This was first focused on #hair – I am not apologetic for objectifying luscious locks – then it moved into the #goth #vampire realm ( #notsorry ) and then setting back into #nature (which I love) – I’ll let you figure out how vampires are #victims and apply that to the damage humans are doing to our madre de #nature. I really shouldn’t even bother with trying to explain it, but for my three fans I will sacrifice :). I mean, it’s not like an influencer like Waagen is going to come along in 250 years and hawk my stuff to wealthy Parisians, while calling it emblematic of the American Golden Age to make a buck. But I digress. Hope you enjoy it.

Stages

A triptych as my last digital artwork. I’ve run out of ideas and must find something else. The three paintings explore nothing, and maybe have some intrinsic meaning, but in my current state, I got nothing. I think the most fun part was exploring camera techniques, playing with blades, lens thickness and f/stop. Anywho, without further ado….

Part One – Human

Part II – Angel

Part III – Goddess

Part IV – Fade to black

It’s a triptych, there is no part four 🙂

Aftermath Remembered

Continuing an apparent theme that fits in with Memorial Day and the senselessness of war – this is really more of a modern take on an earlier era. It’s rare that a soldier is left / forgotten on the battlefield these days, as the thousand kilometer frontlines went out with World War II, still, occasionally a soldier can end up Missing in Action or MIA – this artwork pulls that thread a bit. Ultimately it’s about how there is life in the peace that follows war, or something like that.

Happy Earth Day 2021

As the title says, please take this time to enjoy the oxygen the plant life on this rock give you and the symbiotic return of your hot air for them to recycle. Please sort your recyclables and ensure your tray is up and seat in the upright position as the Earth celebrates another solar birthday. oh, I’ve created some digital art to boot.

Waiting for the Bluebell

The Bluebell is a tree that blooms only once in a 1000 years, it’s bioluminescent flowers both fragrant and beautiful. The sentient tree is shy, however, and pulls its azure petals in tightly when gazed upon, so one must trick it by using a mirror or camera to view it.

After the Rain

I did promise flowers would be my next one, and dandelions used to be a valuable one. It’s edible and herbal properties well known among natural healers. Now it’s a money maker for Glyphospate in order to spread invasive species of grass – but I digress. The doodle I present you is not about the one chance we get at love in this life. It’s a PSA for the consequences of choosing the wrong person and how the consequences reverberate throughout ones psyche and can be like an anchor chain pulling one into the deep. So, choose wisely kiddies. BUT, not being a negative Nelly, after every storm, after every calamity or disaster, people heal, things grow. It’s the cycle of things. Once again, this isn’t about my marriage, I chose poorly, my bad – it’s more about the after-math of life-changing situations – that there is life after, maybe not for that one true love – but for the joy of waking up each morning. also, I love how shadows interact with their surroundings, and particularly with junk. I chose to go with a close-in on the F-stop, but believe me, the scene in the blur is awesome. Fun fact, I did use my wedding photo in this, but it was more relevant than searching the Internet for one. Okay, Nuff said.

Video of Recent Art

I’m truly sorry I’ve not done anything in the last couple of days. I’m working through proposals at work (to pay for my art!) and skin cancer to boot, but last night at 3ish, I made this video of recent art (going back to October (ish). I’ll get creative again soon! I kind of want to do a full length video of all the artwork I’ve done, but it would be significantly longer than 2 minutes – more along the lines of an hour. Maybe over the holiday weekend.
