Nature – Victim

So I throw all these words out to explain my #art but really, it comes down to mood as the #artwork progresses. This was first focused on #hair – I am not apologetic for objectifying luscious locks – then it moved into the #goth #vampire realm ( #notsorry ) and then setting back into #nature (which I love) – I’ll let you figure out how vampires are #victims and apply that to the damage humans are doing to our madre de #nature. I really shouldn’t even bother with trying to explain it, but for my three fans I will sacrifice :). I mean, it’s not like an influencer like Waagen is going to come along in 250 years and hawk my stuff to wealthy Parisians, while calling it emblematic of the American Golden Age to make a buck. But I digress. Hope you enjoy it.

Learning to Fly

Humans don’t think the animal world gets along, but that’s just what they want us to think since we’re the most violent species on the planet. Here, a hidden photo, smuggled at great lengths, shows crows attempting to convey the experience of flight to mice. Don’t hate, one day I will be gone and the value of this digital painting will double, to approximately 0.00 cents. But, if it made you smile it’s value will be infinite.

Breakfast at Pharaohs Revenge

Yesterday I created a piece called “Breakfast at Pharaohs,” you may not remember it. In a nutshell, the Queen took power from the Pharaoh via assassination and posed a-la Audrey Hepburn in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”. In today’s artwork, like a ghost-pepper omelette coming back to haunt later in the day, Pharaoh gets his revenge. Today’s teaching moment – don’t eat ghost-pepper omelettes and in a culture heavily based on making sure your actions in this world get you a good spot in the next (such as the ancient Egyptians), make sure that tomb is sealed tighter than a bank vault. Otherwise, you may be screaming for mummy.

I’m truly sorry I’ve not done anything in the last couple of days. I’m working through proposals at work (to pay for my art!) and skin cancer to boot, but last night at 3ish, I made this video of recent art (going back to October (ish). I’ll get creative again soon! I kind of want to do a full length video of all the artwork I’ve done, but it would be significantly longer than 2 minutes – more along the lines of an hour. Maybe over the holiday weekend.

Urban Tree

Tonight’s drunk art is from my walk this morning. Before anyone tells me telephone poles are round…. Because drivers in my area are attracted to the poles, they are actually rectangular and thick, so it’s accurate – maybe not painted very well, but aesthetically correct. I should say something artistically relevant but I’ll leave it to the senses. Oil, ink, pencil, watercolor, and stencil, it’s a doodle-mutt. Now that I’m looking at it, that bird is huge.

Cherry Lightning Filler

This started as a scrabble on the canvas, and asking myself “What can I do with it?” Et voilá! I’d kind of like to scrub the tree and start over but there’s other ideas that need to spill out into reality. Why? It’s reminiscent of my early work, and I know I can do better. So, media… mixed of course. Acrylics, watercolor, pencil, pastel, and stencil.

The Morning Star

“Her reputation preceded her, judging by the gasps of the people on the way to the castle. She was synonymous with evil, and had adopted the nickname of the light bringer, Lucifer. There was irony in that it was the same as the weapon she used to dispatch justice on those who had wronged her as she made her way back to the root of the problem. As she crested the hill, the familiar ramparts greeted her, and she smiled, in her unsmiling way, a most wicked smile; for she was home.”

Some hot off the render digital art I ginned up over the last couple days (and a backstory). The castle you can barely see in her eyes, which were the focus of all of this. Actually, it was reflections therein I was working on.

One If By Land

This started as another #light study, because light is my favorite thing in #art – I added all the other stuff to make the composition less boring. Thematically, it’s an update of the whole #paulrevere ‘the Redcoats are coming’ schtick at the start of the #revolution and updated to reflect the #multicultural #equalityforall society we’ve become since then. At first it looks like a #woman standing by a #window but notice the weapon, the walkie-talkie and the detonator, & she becomes much more than a vapid #model starting out into space, she becomes a #hero – #new #digital #doodle masquerading as #artwork

November Roundup – AKA No ‘Regerts’

Well, November is over. I came in at just under 21 pieces of artwork, or 70% efficiency. For those who may have missed one or two, I’ve collected all of November below. The last piece I did was technically published in the wee hours of December 1, so I have to include it there.

My Favorite of This Month’s Work

Why do I keep track? Art is what I do instead of playing video games (lots of time lost there in the past) or binge watching TV (also lots of time lost in the past) – but no ‘regerts’, as the meme with the misspelled tattoo suggests.

In all seriousness, keeping track helps me to realize the value of time, since, as an artist going for fame and glory three-hundred years from now, there is precious little of it. Time is the one irreplaceable thing we have, so I want to make the most of it.

Without further ado, I give you November.

So what was November about? I think my themes were generally the power and beauty of woman, irony (as always throughout my work) and hope. Thoughts? What did you see in the artwork? Commentary welcome!

Woman with Pearls. #vermeer is my favorite #artist and #girl with a #pearl #earring is my favorite of his #artwork so I decided to update it for 21st century #america – I was hoping to get this #render done by 9, but didn’t count on my rig taking 4 hours to do it, so I missed the golden hour of posting. The Scream 1983

Today’s #doodle takes #edvardmunch ‘s The Scream and updates it to 1983. Why that year? It was the height of the Cold War and the closest the world came to #nuclear war with #Russia – but for the heroic actions of one man, Stanislav Petrov, who should be in everyone’s working memory. On 26 September 1983, the nuclear early-warning system of the #USSR reported the launch of multiple intercontinental #ballistic #missiles from bases in the United States. These missile attack warnings were felt to be false alarms by Stan Petrov, an officer of the Soviet Air Defence Forces. He risked his life by not reporting these errors to his superiors, and died in obscurity (but not forgotten). He never got a Hero of the Soviet Union medal, though he was much more than that. Okay, #history aside, the #scream always looked like some form of fiery #nightmare to me so I played with that thought. The people in the background are a take on 80’s #apocalyptic cinema, and it took some work to get the mushroom cloud to look more authentic; there’s a literal sun inside there. #art #digital #digitalartist
